How To: Set iPhone 4 to Permanent Portrait Orientation

If you already know about the iPhone 4 feature for double-tapping the home button (see post here), then you may already know about the Portrait orientation setting as well.

If you happen to miss that, here's a quick tip.

If you double-tap iPhone 4's Home button (when at the home screen), it will bring up the list of background apps (at the bottom of the home screen. If you slide your fingers to the right, it will display additional controls.

In this page, you'll see the following icons:

1. Portrait Orientation Lock
   - tap to lock iPhone 4 to portrait, tap again to unlock
2. Previous Song
3. Play song
4. Next Song
5. iPod
   - Open the iPod application

At the bottom of the page, you may see the title of the current song.

To go back to the Home Screen, simply tap the Home button once.

And by the way, this setting is also applicable to 3GS, not sure about 3G, but definitely not for 2G.
