Dragon Age II

A much awaited sequel to Dragon Age : Origins. Although it’s not as grandeur as expected it still is a good game.

I loved Dragon Age: Origins and I am more than in love (it’s almost worship) with Mass Effect. This sequel is a sort of combination of these two games. However, I didn’t quite like it as much as i would have wanted.

Unlike Origins, it has simplified character customization and management. Which i quite-like at some level. There’s a lot less clutter and the management is simplified (which i can imagine would irk RPG/D&D fanatics) – it did have a little more focus on the action.

In this sequel, you’re basically fixed on using a certain character with which the story evolves. This makes it more like the style of Mass Effect (Shepard). The problem is, it is not quite the epic that it should be – particularly the hodge-podge of quests to form a story. At times, it would just seem that you’re doing random requests from random NPCs.

I do love the improved action/spells animation (being a permanent mage) and the awesome audio. The characters are voiced and the background music set just perfectly for the tone of the sequel which did a lot to propel the story and set the mood.

It’s not quite up there compared to Mass Effect (okay, enough with the comparisons. hehe), but i am at least enjoying it as much as i did with Origins. Thanks to Bioware for another game to spend sleepless nights in front of my computer screeen!
